Checking your system specifications
If your PC does not meet the system requirement to run this game (lacking the necessary hardware capabilities), the game may not start or may not function properly.
Please use KOEITECMO SYSTEM VIEWER tool to check your PC's environment.
This will help you verify whether the processor (CPU), video card (graphics board), and other components installed in your PC meet the product's system requirements.
The system requirements necessary for gameplay are listed on the official product website and the Steam store page.
There may be options such as "Turn off movies" or "Automatically skip playback." Please check the in-game settings as well.
In addition to movie playback settings, please try lowering other settings such as screen size and image quality from their current levels.
Troubleshooting Steps
If movies still do not play despite no issues with system requirements or settings, please try the following steps.
Note: Please perform hardware or peripheral settings changes and driver updates at your own risk.
1. Install the "VP9 Video Extensions"
Please install the free "VP9 Video Extensions" from the Microsoft Store.
Note: Although the link mentions "Windows 10," please try installing it on Windows 11 as well.
2. Reinstall Windows Media Player
Please refer to Microsoft's page: Get Windows Media Player and reinstall Windows Media Player.
3. Change display settings
- Right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings."
- Set the "Scale and layout" option to "100%."
- Change the "Display resolution" to a different value once, then change it back to the original setting.
4. (For multi-display setups) Launch the game using a single display
Also, if you are using a video card, connect your monitor only to the video card.
5. Verify integrity of game files
In the Steam Library, right-click the game title, and select "Properties" > "Installed Files" > "Verify integrity of game files."
6. Change graphics settings
Trying the following steps may allow the use of a higher-performance GPU and resolve the issue.
If any of these options do not appear, please skip the corresponding steps.
- Right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings" from the menu.
- Scroll to the bottom of the Display panel and select "Graphics settings."
- Under "Choose an app to set preference," select "Classic app."
- Click the "Browse" button.
- Select the game’s executable file in the installation folder, then click [Add].
- Select the added game icon and click "Options."
- Select "High performance" and click "Save."
If you have an NVIDIA video card, please also try changing the settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel:
- Go to "3D Settings" > "Manage 3D settings"
- Select the "Program Settings" tab, then add this game.
- On the "Program Settings" tab, set "Vertical sync" to Off.
-
On the "Program Settings" tab, under "Preferred graphics processor," select "High-performance NVIDIA processor."
If "Preferred graphics processor" is not displayed, check that the "CUDA - GPUs" setting shows "All" and that your graphics card is checked. If it is unchecked, please check it.
- Set "Antialiasing - Mode" to "Enhance the application setting."
- Change the "Antialiasing - Setting" under "Program Settings" to a less demanding option.
- Click "Apply" and close the NVIDIA Control Panel.
7. Obtain or update the "DirectX End-User Runtime"
Please download and update it from Microsoft's website: DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer. For details, contact Microsoft or your PC manufacturer.
If the issue persists, try downloading and installing "directx_Jun2010_redist.exe" from Microsoft’s page: DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010).
8. Update, roll back, or reinstall video card drivers
Download and install the latest drivers compatible with your PC’s video card from the hardware manufacturer’s website. Also, try updating your sound card drivers.
- Newer versions may be available on the board or chipset manufacturer’s sites.
- Please also try rolling back or reinstalling the drivers.
- You can obtain the latest drivers for your chipset from the following sites:
9. Reduce background applications as much as possible
To reduce the load on your PC, close as many background applications as possible before launching the game.
Background applications refer to software listed under "Background processes" in the Task Manager.
Please check whether Windows Update or security software updates are running in the background.
10. Review security software settings
The issue may be caused by your security software. Temporarily disable the security software or add this product to the "exceptions (exclusions)" list in your security software.
The method for setting exceptions varies depending on security software. Please contact the software manufacturer if you are unsure.
11. Disconnect unnecessary peripheral devices
Peripheral devices connected to your PC’s USB ports may cause slowdowns. Please try disconnecting any peripheral devices not related to gameplay.
12. Reinstall the game
If all the above steps do not resolve the issue, please reinstall the game from the Steam Client > Library.
