If you are unable to save or load the Steam version of "Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land," please try the following steps:
1. Log in to Windows with an account with administrator privileges
Additionally, try launching the game as an administrator by right-clicking the Steam Client or the game's executable file (.exe) and selecting "Run as administrator."
2. Check the sharing settings for Documents folder
If your "Documents" folder is shared via services such as OneDrive or Dropbox, it may prevent the game from functioning properly. Please follow the steps below to disable or uninstall these services and see if the issue is resolved.
Note: Even if you have not installed or configured these settings yourself, in many cases the Documents folder is shared via OneDrive by default.
Note: The following instructions use OneDrive as an example. If you use other file-sharing services, please refer to their official websites for instructions on how to disable sharing.
(1) Open the save data folder for this game, which is located in the following path within your Documents folder.
\Documents\KoeiTecmo\Atelier Yumia |
(2) If the text "OneDrive" appears between your user name and "Documents" in the folder path, unlink or uninstall OneDrive.
For instructions on how to unlink or uninstall it, please refer to the official Microsoft support page: "Turn off, disable, or uninstall OneDrive."
Note: If there is no text between your user name and "Documents," proceed to the next step.
(3) After unlinking or uninstalling OneDrive, reopen the save data folder and confirm that the folder path no longer contains the text "OneDrive."
Note: If the text "OneDrive" still appears in the folder path, or if you are unsure how to unlink or uninstall OneDrive, please contact Microsoft support for assistance.
3. Confirm that read/write permissions are properly set for files and folders
Open the Properties window of your save data file or the folder where your save data is stored, and confirm that access permissions are correctly configured on the "Security" tab.

4. Confirm Windows Defender's Protection History
If the game is blocked or if your Documents folder is protected, disable these protections.
You can view the protection history by going to "Windows Settings" > "Update & Security (Privacy & Security)" > "Windows Security" > “Virus & threat protection" > "Protection history."
5. Exclude this game from your security software's monitoring
In your security software, set the game's executable file as an exception (exclusion) to prevent it from being scanned.
By default, the executable file is installed in the following location:
|
【Executable file name】 Atelier_Yumia.exe 【Installation folder】 C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Atelier Yumia |
6. Use a Windows user account that does not contain double-byte characters
If your Windows username contains double-byte characters, the game may not function properly. Please create a user account using only single-byte alphanumeric characters, and log in to Windows with that account.
